We offer two types of tests:
- Tests that can detect the virus directly (also called viral PCR tests)
- Tests that check for your immune response (known as antibody tests)
We can also provide Fit-To-Travel certificates.
What Covid-19 testing options can Medinow provide?
- PCR (active virus) and Roche antibody tests
- On-Site and self-test testing kits available
- Samples analysed by UK accredited laboratories
- Swabs with 99% sensitivity and specificity and 99% accurate antibody tests
- Positive results reported to Public Health England
How accurate are the Covid-19 tests and what level of quality are they?
We are a CQC regulated medical services provider all our tests are fully compliant with government guidelines and have been approved for use by Public Health England.
"Pregnancy test style" test kits claiming to offer instant results (based on IgM and IgG antibodies) are on sale in the market. However, there are questions about the accuracy of these tests therefore we do not recommend them.
We recommend using a laboratory based test for safer and more accurate results. Laboratory based tests guarantee that results are analysed in a controlled, sterile environment with minimum risk of contamination.
We will continue to explore instant results testing options and may offer alternative kits in future if we are satisfied with the clinical accuracy and safety of the test.
COVID-19 CORONAVIRUS FIT-TO-TRAVEL CERTIFICATES
Our doctors can provide a medical certificate to certify your coronavirus PCR Swab test results which is suitable for international travel or for employment purposes.
How to get a COVID-19 Fit to Travel Certificate
To get a COVID-19 Fit to Fly certificate that is signed by one of our doctors, you first need to take a Covid-19 PCR test to check if you have the active virus or not.
Your Responsibilities
Please note it is your responsibility to check the travel requirements of the airline and country you are travelling to, as well as to ensure your results are received in the time frame required by the airline and country.
Test Results
Test results are normally available under the following timescales:
- EXPRESS SAME DAY PCR TEST: 6 to 12 HOURS AFTER APPOINTMENT
- STANDARD PCR TEST: 24 to 48 HOURS AFTER APPOINTMENT
- HOME SELF-TEST KITS: 24 to 48 hours from receipt of the sample by the laboratory
While test results are normally available within the timescales described above, we cannot guarantee this.
